About me.
I am Anne Dumanat. Why do I design? I design because because there is a problem. As a graduate student in Georgetown’s Learning, Design, and Technology program, I am passionate about designing learning experiences for communicating and learning science. Science, for me, is about discovering the world and opening new ways of experiencing it. Design, on the other hand, is a way for me to creatively solve a problem. This has led me to constantly look for learning design problems to solve.
In my free time I love traveling and exploring new places. I have dabbled in photography and trivia. My current goal is to explore the entire DC on foot.
My Interests.
STEM Education
How might we encourage student interest in STEM? How might we change how STEM is perceived? How might we empower learners through STEM education?
Educational Technology
There are many ways that learners engage with technology. How does technology affect our relationship with learning? How might technology shape the future of education and learning?
Online Learning
How do online learning spaces affect how we learn? How are digital learning spaces different from physical ones? How might one design an online space to maximize learning?
Teacher Training
Teachers should have as many tools as possible in their toolbox. How might we equip teachers with tools to help them with both content and technology?
In this project, I created a game using Twine with the goal of exploring ways to get students to engage with science better.
I explored how vlogging can be used for teaching and learning by creating my very first vlog.
This project is a thought experiment that explores how VR might be used in the classroom.
Reflections on Designing for Learning
When I started this program, I had a vague idea of what the program was about and how I could grow within it. The program for me at the start was simply about designing learning experiences or learning materials. It has been so much more than that. It has evolved into a place where I can experiment, both in ideas and technology. My time here has given me the opportunity to look at learning and teaching differently.
